Nancy Wingenbach, Destination ImagiNation International Board Member, has a guest column in the American Association of School Administrator’s (AASA)The School Administrator that highlights the connection between Destination ImagiNation and 21st-century skills.
The article focuses on the emerging trend of schools acknowledging the critical need for teaching 21st-century skills so our students will be better prepared for the real-world. Nancy writes of the expanding knowledge students are required to learn. How teachers cannot possibly teach all of the content. Enrichment programs, specifically Destination ImagiNation, are noted as resources for teaching these skills in an authentic environment.
Her article also sites how Destination ImagiNation’s programming is aligned with the key attributes identified by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, specifically how participants engage in creative problem solving and apply that knowledge to produce solutions.
