Non-profit providing support to programs that tackle childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyle choices

March 17, 2010-Cherry Hill, NJ-Destination ImagiNation is doing its part to combat childhood obesity through educational programming that empowers youth to create innovative solutions in their schools and communities.

The international educational non-profit has been working with organizations such as the National Dairy Council, the NFL and the USDA for the Fuel Up To Play 60 program, and the University of Tennessee on a study aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle choices for youth.

“We have observed for some time that Destination ImagiNation participants make smarter choices in their diet and participate in more physical activities,” said Rusty McCarty, COO and Creative Director for Destination ImagiNation. “Having the opportunity to support programs like Fuel Up To Play 60 makes everyone at Destination ImagiNation feel we are doing our part to tackle childhood obesity.”

This May at its capstone event in Knoxville, Tenn., Destination ImagiNation will be providing the opportunity for their participants to experience the Fuel Up To Play 60 program through an engaging and fun interactive experience. In the “Fuel Up To Play 60 Activation Exchange,” youth will learn about making smart nutrition choices, tackle physical activities such as rock climbing walls, and pledge to commit to a healthy lifestyle to combat childhood obesity.

“Destination ImagiNation is in the business of teaching youth creative problem solving, and for 27 years our programming has empowered young people to truly take ownership of challenges and solve them on their own. This makes Destination ImagiNation uniquely positioned to work in tandem with programs like Fuel Up To Play 60,” said Chuck Cadle, CEO of Destination ImagiNation. “We are extremely proud to be working with such amazing organizations like the National Dairy Council, the NFL, and national health and nutrition organizations to combat childhood obesity.”
